Cynthia Farid has longstanding experience in legal practice, research as well as a range of international human rights law work experience including engagement with the UN treaty-body processes with INGOs, think tanks, and legal rights organizations. Having completed her bar from the UK (2004) and Bangladesh (District Court: 2007; High Court: 2015) , she graduated with advanced degrees from Cornell Law School (LL.M: 2011) and the University of Wisconsin Law School (SJD-Doctor of Juridical Science: 2020).

Dr. Farid has assisted ELC in a range of matters including writ, PIL and amicus briefs in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She is currently affiliated with the University of Hong Kong (2022-2024) as a Global Academy Fellow and is a member of the Global Young Academy (2023-2028) in Germany. Dr. Farid has published in several international journals; contributed chapters in edited books; helped organize collaborative projects and successfully secured international research grants that have brought together scholars from around the globe.
